SERV Technology Sdn Bhd founded in 2017 by Arief Imran, a serial entrepreneur who managed various businesses prior to building SERV as a full vehicle maintenance app.
SERV introduces the concept of Vehicle Super App: An internet-based technology platform that focuses on providing a one-stop vehicle ownership management experience. The platform enables vehicle owners to own their vehicles digitally, search for various services, make payments, and track their vehicle health report. SERV is currently operating within Malaysia and has a presence in the US. We are also currently developing mobility-related technologies such as autonomous vehicles through our R&D arm within the SERV group of companies.
There is a major issue that the customer face with vehicle ownerships - We all know that car ownership is a nuisance; from driving license expiry, road tax renewal to the general diagnosis of the current condition of your vehicle. That’s why SERV is on a mission to make it less of a hassle.
Too many apps available in the market - Imagine a customer who would like to do basic service, changing their tire and perhaps renewing their road tax or insurance. The customer needs to go to 3 different platforms just to run the necessary action on one vehicle. SERV acts as a platform that connects consumers with multiple automotive services and auto repair shops to complete their desired vehicle maintenance and repairs.
Believing that a well-maintained vehicle is a key to road safety, SERV builds a well-regulated platform to provide a convenient, fast, and reliable service in car maintenance. Customers can now save more of their time as they no longer need to commute or wait at the service center for a long time.
Every service including the car health report allows the customer to have transparent information about their vehicle condition. This can help to notify the user when there is a fault in any of the vehicle parts that need to be fixed. The customer would also receive a detailed price quotation before proceeding to book the service. This would prevent them to pay more than what they expected every time they service their vehicle.
SERV's latest feature, Drive-In, allows workshop merchants to digitalize their workshop operations; from transferring vehicle’s condition data to customer to digital invoicing and receipt. The feature will allow workshop merchants to expand their customer base by having its own digital store in the SERV app and encourage repeat customers to serve their car at the workshop again.
At the moment, SERV currently operates two types of options on the app; Service On-The-Go and Drive-In. By maintaining the on-demand car maintenance service, SERV expands to serve the aftermarket businesses that were affected due to the global pandemic and introduces the Drive-In feature on the app which allows users to search for the nearest workshop and request customer’s preferred time to arrive. The feature allows digital payments to make the transaction easier especially in these times of post MCO.
Since the inception of the idea of SERV in 2017, we have built a valuable brand through its achievements. In recognition of this series of achievements, SERV has been awarded a number of awards including selected as Top 40 Innovative Startup and Creativity Prize at ASEAN-ROK Startup EXPO, ComeUp 2019, and granted with the Winner and Judges Choice at Teraju SUPERB 2019.
The total income generated has grown until MYR 1.2M over the past years since 2018 which makes SERV grow its YoY growth to 3x.
Within the 2 years of operating SERV, the brand has built a valuable recognition to its own customers via word of mouth and marketing at a minimal cost. What started out from just around 5-6% active users has now grown to 70%, which makes our current number of users registered to have exceeded more than 10,000 in Q4 2019. Through these achievements, SERV continues to post strong results, keeping up with our current growth momentum and expansion plan, we expect our user base will grow over 5million users across the SEA region.
Although we believe that adding value to vehicle ownership is crucial, we have to make sure the business is fed well to sustain in order to keep providing those values to our users. The first business model is our Service On-The-Go, which caters to on demand services, earning us between 5 to 15% of revenue sharing. We gain 15% from our mobile workshop providers who fully relied on SERV app and 5 to 10% from the direct integration with other providers (such as Bateriku.com and MyAssist roadside assistance) that complete the customer’s ownership journey with SERV.
Second one is our newest feature on the app which we collaborated with our valued workshop partners to encourage digital transformation in their usual workshop operations. The usage is currently free for all workshop merchants and SERV makes 2% from each of the transactions that is made on the provided payment channels on SERV app.
The third one is depending on the deals that we have with certain local manufacturers of suppliers that require custom solutions and feature integration on their system. This would involve certain software customizations and automation to be developed by our engineers.
Automotive/aftermarket service sector is one of the top industries that gets a lot of complaints from users due to the process still being quite conventional and a hassle for drivers all around the world. If we monitor the global market trends in the automotive sector, there are emerging solutions that are available and have been implemented in developing countries that include Indonesia and the Philippines. Back to Malaysia, we have already built some vehicle services on demand such as Bateriku and MyAssist roadside assistance and SERV acts as the all-in-one vehicle services to complete vehicle ownership experience, from storing vehicle condition in the app, transparent services to getting all vehicle related services in SERV app.
SERV is now having more than 10k users and more than 70% of them save their vehicle on the app. Independent of this angel round, SERV is already on track to achieve 100,000 users and 1000 merchants within a year from now, However we at SERV believe that great is never enough. Hence, we aim to reach more than 200,000 users and 2000 merchants by inviting angel investors to bring us to our next goal. We’re raising RM 2m funding within 12-18 months to achieve our next aim and most of the funding will go to Marketing and Operations as SERV is now entering the growth stage in our Retail-iation Plan.
Our main core value at SERV is user first. Everything that we improve on our app is based on our users’ review and experience from booking, getting their vehicle serviced at their preferred time, reminding them to be aware of their current vehicle state. We simplified and keep improving our app to be more user friendly based on our users’ feedback to ensure their vehicle ownership experience is at ease.
Our corporate structure has been varied to many touchpoints in mobility and now has grown with 3 more companies within the SERV brand. The first one is REKA Inisiatif Sdn Bhd which focuses on AI technology, big data analytics and autonomous mobility. REKA is also the backbone of SERV’s tech development and was known for pioneering Malaysia’s first self driving car back in 2016.
The second one in our group is SERV Technology US LLC which is a joint venture company that brings SERV to the United States. We’ve signed a LOI with one of the biggest dealership chains in the US and will roll out soon in Q3-Q4 this year. However, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic that hits the globe, the announcement has been delayed and is still on track.
We’ve invested in having an Associate company that is building an innovation to develop cloud kitchen solutions, focusing on food and beverages. Since SERV as a company that focuses on mobility advancement, we invest our cash reserves in mostly mobility related initiatives to build a strong team in achieving our end goal.

Each of the individuals in SERV Group is not just backed with years of experience in multinational and local corporations, but willing to work in a team that is filled with extraordinary efforts to achieve our goal; to bring SERV at a global level. We are a team of young, vibrant and committed individuals who aim not just to build a practical app for vehicle ownership experience but also to position Malaysia as a key player in the global stage of automotive/mobility sector.

July 2019 - SERV was interviewed by RTM in Tamarind Suites, Cyberjaya during the celebration of SERV’s 2nd year anniversary to talk about the latest version release of the SERV app. Besides providing insurance coverage and road tax, car battery replacement, and health insurance, SERV came out with its latest feature which is the Car Health Report that provides the customers with diagnostic, maintenance, and recall information of the real condition of their car so they can stay on top of the vehicle's requirements. Offline marketing initiative: Series of Car Health Campaign
May 2018 - SERV has been organizing the Car Health Campaign and intended to promote the series of free car health checkups that was held in Cyberjaya and Kuala Lumpur as a part of the offline marketing initiative that aims to spread the awareness of regular vehicle care, maintenance, and repair to the customers. The campaign is a symbolic action that demonstrates the importance to be visible in offline marketing and that small measures can serve and look after the valued customers.

SERV was announced as one of the winners in the Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Startup Scheme (SUPERB) by TERAJU in their biggest business-focused reality competition, the SUPERB 2019 and was awarded with MYR 500,000.

July 2019 - SERV was interviewed by Bernama in Tamarind Suites, Cyberjaya during the celebration of SERV’s 2nd year anniversary to talk about the latest version release of the SERV app which is known as the Car Health Report. SERV awarded the Creativity Prize at ASEAN-ROK Startup EXPO, ComeUp 2019
In November, SERV was selected as one of the top 40 innovative ASEAN Startups from 10 ASEAN countries by the ASEAN-Korean Centre to pitch their businesses live at the ASEAN-ROK Startup EXPO, ComeUp 2019 in Korea at the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation from 18th November till 28th November in venues around Seoul.
After the two-day pitching sessions, SMEs and Startup Minister Park Young-sun has awarded SERV with the prestigious Creativity Prize award.

SERV and MyAssist (a subsidiary of MyEG) entered into an MoU to enable SERV Users the accessibility to the MyAssist 24/7 feature, a nationwide road assistance service via the SERV App.
