Rentguard was founded 3 years ago by former property entrepreneurs who believed that property transactions could be more efficient, secure and transparent by digitilising its operations.
Our mission is to digitalise the property ecosystem by solving the real pain points in property operations.
Rentguard is currently the leading property technology (PropTech) company in Malaysia. Having been awarded MSC status with 5+5 years zero tax incentives (expiring in the year 2028), Rentguard is the first Malaysia PropTech company that launched the contactless system (Ebooking and Auto Rental Collection) in 2018, which is now used by more than 1000 property negotiators, 10,000 landlords and tenants. More than RM800M gross market value (GMV) of properties have been transacted as at 31st December 2019 and these numbers are still growing despite the COVID-19 pandemic, as consumers are looking for an online solution for their offline operations.
Rentguard were elected to participate in various government funded accelerator programmes, such as MAGIC Stanford Go2Market, Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP), Asean Data Startup Accelerator Programme (MDEC). This year, Rentguard has been accepted by CRADLE for its 24 months Coach & Growth Programme (CGP).

PROBLEM
During the COVID-19 crisis, businesses such as food, grocery, utilities and those alike who offer essential services can not only be resilient but also excel as consumers are focussed on basic surviving needs.
As the economy slows down, more people will defer their property purchase plans and continue to stay within the rental market. If this situation escalates, the booking of properties without a physical meet up, signing of official papers, inability of landlords to secure tenants, rental payments, bank reconciliation of the tenants payments will all prove difficult.
SOLUTION
Contactless System
We created Malaysia first Contactless Agency system back in 2018, so that property negotiators can complete the property booking process without the need for physical paper forms and a meet up. We have made this a 2 step process, completed in 5 minutes. This helps users to save tremendous amount of time and increase their sales volume. Our customers, who are property agencies, can process transactions with commissions calculation and full reporting system. Rentguard’s system saves at 50% of administration expenses.
Auto Rental Collection
In 2019, we launched Malaysias first ever auto rental collection system. This system works by obtaining a one time TAC code from tenants online bank account which allows Rentguard to deduct monthly rentals automatically throughout the tenancy period. Property operators who enjoy this product, reduce their bank reconciliation administration work from 45 days to 3 days.

RESILIENT BUSINESS
The recent Movement Control Order (MCO) is tough for everyone, especially businesses. Activities and plan have been put on hold as everyone is staying safe at home. We feel grateful for our clients who work even harder during this period to grow their businesses. Our March rental collection has hit an all time high, with nearly half a month in MCO. Q1/2020 has shown a 48% growth compare to the same period in 2019.
With more rental cases flooding the market in past two weeks, April is estimated to be hit a 28% growth, compare to Q1’s monthly average. We are confident that Rentguard is a resilient business and will see it though Covid-19.
VISION
Rentguard is looking to grow 60X in the next 5 years and confident to deliver a minimum of 20X return to investors with based on the current valuation.

Data Driven Startups to Benefit from Accelerator Programme
ADSA received over 110 applications from regional and international startups during the intake of two cohorts in 2017 and had shortlisted 10 Malaysian and 10 ASEAN startups to participate in the programme. Notably, several startups from the two cohorts have already attracted the attention of large institutions such as Allianz Malaysia Berhad, Axiata Business Services Sdn Bhd, and Nanotechnology & Catalysis Research Centre (NANOCAT), University Malaya.
